Dr. Montana Kauffman grew up in West York, Pennsylvania on a small hobby farm with various animals including rabbits and geese that she raised and showed for 4H. She also spent much of her childhood in Bernville, Pennsylvania helping her grandparents with their family dairy farms. Most of her summers and holiday breaks from school were spent milking and caring for the cows and helping with fieldwork. This is where her passion for the dairy industry began to grow.

Recognizing her interest in working with large animals, and still being close to home, Dr. Kauffman attended Delaware Valley University for her undergraduate studies. During her last year at DelVal, she secured an internship with an 1,100-cow dairy herd, where she met her now husband.

After finishing her undergraduate studies, she began her final training at the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine. Outside of her coursework, she gained valuable experience with production animals, interning at Pipestone Veterinary Services to work with swine, and helping her husband on a beef farm in Jefferson City. These experiences sparked her passion for working with a variety of large animals.

Dr. Kauffman lives in Brownstown with her husband, who is also involved in agriculture. They have two dogs: Oscar (Irish Setter) and Clarence (Doberman Pincher mixed breed). In her spare time, Dr Kauffman enjoys playing tennis, being with family outdoors, going on hikes, and traveling. One of her long-term goals is to visit every state, with 31 already visited!
